Anacardic acids will be tested to verify their biocidal activity in biological systems not yet evaluated.
In this way, it is expected to establish alternatives for the use of the shells and the liquid of the nutshells for the production of anacardic acids and other materials, offering alternatives for the cashew production chain.
It is hoped, therefore, from the results, to generate knowledge that can contribute to increase the profitability of the cashew production chain, through new agroindustrial products. In the social sphere, the results can contribute to the increase in production and the full use of nuts, boosting the agroindustrial sector, increasing the supply of jobs and also stimulating the strengthening of sectoral organizations such as producer associations.
Environmental benefits may also be obtained, thus contributing to guaranteeing the sustainability of the cashew production system, since the full use of nuts and other products will reduce the negative impacts of the generation of industrial processing residues.
